PAST EXHIBITIONS

Processing
Take a walk through the different levels and stages, become an idea and travel your way through my brain and see
what you become on the other side.
I invite you to start...PROCESSING.

01 - IDEA
There you are. Something completely new to me. Why are you here and how am I supposed to help you? How will I find space for you in my already full and busy brain? Will you be able to survive? If I am going to try, I need to prepare…

02 - Preparation
An explosion of colour, so many different ideas, textures, and impulses. This is me, slightly fractured and not all together. Preparing to undertake this new thought - how will we get to the end? Maybe all in a dream…

03 - Dream
A had a dream once, it didn't have a beginning or an end. Floating through the void as different colours and shapes. The farther we floated, the more we realized we needed a place to rest. To collect our thoughts, to think, to incubate…

04 - Incubation
Snapped back into place - growing and developing. Blurring my colours, connecting the lines and morphing into something new. Taking the seed of thought and helping it grow and evolve...

05 - evolution
Like a caterpillar from a cocoon, this thought is growing. It’s learning and making connections. Creativity is feeding these small sparks, lighting up the darkness and illuminating...

06 - Illumination
I finally see the light, I have awoken. The lightbulb is shining now and showing me a clearer picture. What have you become little seed? I can finally see you now. But you don’t seem to be the same as you were when we started. You are changing, always changing - a true transformation...

07 - Transformation
Bright, bold and powerful. Your energy is astounding - filling us with wonder. You have become something vibrant and altogether new. You are the fruit of the seed you once were. The same but totally different. You are asking me who you are now, for verification...

08 - Verification
I can feel your heartbeat. From an idea, a moment, a shared thought you have emerged. You can now stand on your own feet, you need me no longer. Fully aware of where you came from but unsure of your destination. Time for something new, a better you - time to innovate...

09 - Innovation
Your own original ideas and thoughts have spread throughout the world. Together they have made roots to grow and nurture the earth beneath them. From one small spark to an endless stream of electricity, constantly moving and creating a cycle of energy. A momentum of creativity and change...wow I stop and take a step back.
What was the question?

Emotions
Emotions are like water, strong currents that can drag you down and lift you up.
Always flowing.
Capturing the essence of emotion and sealing them in encaustic, Sugi Ban, and 3D colour. I invite you to flow with me through the emotions exhibition.

Hearts Matter
From 2 years to 92 years, teen artist Aiden Lee has inspired over 100 hearts to add to a beautiful community installation called, “Hearts Matter.”
Each colourful heart rendition is presented on a 6”by 6” canvas that takes the viewer on an emotional journey of how all our hearts would look if captured in colours, shape and design.

Do you hear that?
The Oakville YMCA offers a peek into the hearts of the community and allows the viewer to see the beauty in the collective. ‘Hearts matter’ From our physical dedication to keeping our hearts healthy to the awareness of acceptance, that we all have hearts that deserve, respect, love and protection.
‘Do you hear that? Something slow and constantly making a beat. It seems to be getting faster and faster and getting louder and louder. I wonder what it is... An animal? A human? Something not from here? I can’t seem to recognize what it is. But it has a feeling, a warm and safe feeling. A feeling that makes me feel like I belong.
Maybe this beat is for me...maybe it’s for everyone.

Conversation
Cloud
Hello and welcome to the cloud.
A movable 'thought bubble' that expresses the importance of collective communication while also celebrating diversity and inclusion. This exhibition is a one-of-a-kind collaborative design that connects viewers, students, artists, and teachers through our desire to be heard and expressed through art.
Voice. Non-verbal. Written. Visual. Listening.
